This complaint was lodged by Mrs. Afolabi Eunice Olufunmilayo of No. B12 Akinlade Street Dada Estate, Osogbo on non-remittance of Five Hundred Thousand naira (N500,000.00) from her Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) account into the receiver’s account in August 2023. According to the complainant; she successfully did the transfer and her account was debited quite alright, but the receiver’s Moniepoint MFB of Loveth Venture’s account number was not credited. This shocking development made her to visit her bank for the anomaly to be corrected or the transaction reversed!
All along, she had hoped that her bank would do the needful but to her utmost surprise nothing was done to help her.
With this teething problem, she approached the Public Complaint Commission and her complaint was officially received on 11th September, 2023. Combined team of investigators worked on her file by contacting the GTB Lagos Headquarters office on phone for the error to be corrected. Meanwhile, the snail-slow attitude of her bank made us to communicate the Central Bank of Nigeria in case of any official reluctance by GTB.
Eventually, our efforts yielded positive result as the abnormality was duely corrected when the complainant received an alert of reversed Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000.00) on Friday 13th September, 2023.
The complainant was so grateful when she came to our office with an appreciation letter.
The complaint thus ended on that happy note.
